That sucks! We went to see the Vet today. Sam's been limping on and off the last week. Yesterday it was really bad, he didn't want to put weight on his left front leg. The Vet didn't even need to take an x-ray, we all kind of knew what's going on.
Arthritis finally caught up with Sam. Even though he's only six years old, but his elbows were bad from the beginning.
We've been giving him Synovi G3 Soft Chews for his joint health for six month or so. But now he'll need Metacam for his pain, I think on a long term basis. If that's not going to work in the future, there will be some injection available for him. It's too early for those as I understand it.
He also threw up in the early morning hours, and since we could not rush outside, on account of him limping like a champion, he did that in my bedroom! I almost added to it. Who knew that his food would stay that long in his stomach! He had dinner at 5PM and threw up at 1:30AM. I even found some red pepper, which he had much earlier, but he was never one for chewing much. Just catch and swallow. Anyway, it was disgusting, and smelly ....
Poor Sam!
And since that's not trouble enough, I just found out, that our pool is loosing water through the heater! Which I've never used. As I said before, that sucks! Just one of those days....

Poor Sam! I hope the Metacam helps him.
Erm--have you tried adding digestive enzymes or Missing Link to Sam's food to help him digest? (so then when he throws up it will be all nice and gooey instead of chunky... okay, not sure that's a big improvement! ;-)
I'm so sorry to hear about Sam not feeling well. He's young to have arthritist, isn't he? Sounds like you are doing all that can be done for him. Hope he starts to feel better really soon.
Poor Sam! Hope things will get better...even not 100% but better. :-)
Hope Sam's tummy has settled AND yours! You are taking care of the problem - hope the medicine starts working soon.
It does suck! but he is still so so pretty. I hope he gets to feeling better soon and that your hole miraculously fills. Tadah!
Tough times with Sam. My old Bergen was on Rimadil (sp) which worked for some time. Metacam did not improve over the Rimadil for him. So we went on to an injected thing which I still have in my fridge. Really, giving the injections isn't too bad.

Poor Sam! Two of my cats have presented me with "presents" today, and they always find the worst places!
I send good thoughts to Sam and his joints. I'm just glad there are treatments out there for him.
Hugs for Sam. I hope the medication helps him feel better. I hope your day gets better too!
Poor Sam :( Sure hope the new med gives him some relief!
Aw, poor Sam! If it's not one thing it's another with the poor pup. I hope he feels better soon. Red peppers? That can't be good, even gulped.
Poor Sam. I am sad he has arthritis, but Tori Tompkins took Metacam for many years and it helped her a lot. She had injections too: Harki had one, Cartrophen I think, last year. Sending Lots of Labrador Love your way. X X X
Poor Poor Sam! Hope he feels better. I really like the socks. I've never knit any of Cat's sock patterns. Will have to try this one.
Poor Sam, I hope the medicin will help and he will feel better soon.
That does suck, I hope the medications are able to give him some relief. Sending alot of tummy rubs and ear scratching vibes his way.
I hope the treatment would help Sam. Was his throwing up related to the medication he was taking? Maybe you should place a bucket inside the bedroom, just in case.
Poor little sweetie pie! We have two Yorkies and I swear they will run from the tile, which is easily cleaned, onto the carpet to vomit. One of our last dogs consistently ate so much stuff outside and threw up that we called him our bulimic dog!
i can think of nothing else to say but...
BAH!
Ask your vet about Adequan injections for Sam, they made SUCH an improvment in our older boxer. The injections are on the pricey side, but totally worth it!
Give Sam a gentle hug from Nimitz and me! Hopefully the vet will be able to help ease the pain and he doesn't get sick in your room again. (And my brother is in Australia right now!)
Poor Sam. I have arthritis, too, so I can imagine how he feels.
