I cast on for socks three times before I was satisfied with the result. The yarn stood up bravely to this abuse. It's hard to find a stitch pattern for handpainted yarn, that will pool no matter what, other than good old stockinett stitch. I found two ways to make it a little bit more interesting, and one way you can see here for yourself. I like the result. I made the leg 7" long, and the foot is for size 10 1/4", and I still had left over yarn. I could have added 1" to each leg easily.
pattern: my own
yarn: Drachenwolle
needles: for cuff and 3" of the leg - 2.5mm, for the rest of the socks 2.25mm 5 DP
size: 10 1/4"
Cast on: 64 stitches
start-finish: August 23 - 25
Thank you, Christiane, for giving me the opportunity to experience this lovely yarn. I would love to try this for a scarf, even as heavier weight yarn, or for a sweater, this would be so great, with a nice drape I'm sure.

That's a neat pattern you made for the socks. I have some wool/linen yarn that I bought for socks but I wasn't sure if I wanted to sell instead. I think I'll be keeping it now. :-)
I LOVE those socks. The detail is just right -- you did a great job!. They're interesting without being distracting. The yarn sounds really interesting, too!
That's a perfect pattern you made for the yarn. The socks look wonderful.
i like that sock pattern a lot. have you written it up? i'm looking for a sock pattern that isn't all crazy and mind boggling for my first pair (i'm nearing that time).
give sam a snuggle from me...
The socks came out pretty reasonably pooled. What's really interesting is how little you can see the orange in the sock although it's more apparent in the skein.
Those socks look wonderfully comfortable! I honestly don't mind the pooling. I think it's kind of relaxing, especially in such a beautiful color.
I get in to colour ruts, too. Those are very pretty.
Lovely socks Monika!
Lovely color!
Too bad the mittens got to big - it's a beautiful pattern.
And I really hope Sam will feel better soon!
Lovely socks! The stitch detail is so perfect and even the pooling isn't bad.
Enjoy and wear them in good health.
Ich hab die Wolle auch ausprobiert und fand sie am Anfang gewöhnungsbedürftig. Aber mittlerweile trage ich die Socken sehr gerne.
LG Susi
Wundervolle Wolle und daraus etwas Wunderschönes gestrickt !!
Beautiful results!
Beautiful simple socks, but elegant! I'm sure they will be a joy to wear this fall and winter :)
