I swatched!

I rarely swatch, almost never. But this time, I wanted to see how the yarn I've chosen would work for this pattern. I've joined the Blooming Mystery KAL on ravelry, just because I saw someone elses swatch! How's that for motivation?!

Blooming Mystery KAL swatch-2

I think it will work. The KAL starts this weekend.

Pins & Lace Club 2011-1-Spanish Moss-3
I've also received my first installment of Pins & Lace Club 2011 by Romi Hill. I LOVE it! Even though it's lace weight yarn, I'm going to knit this one, but without the beads. Romi says," One of my favorites is the Spanish Moss that hangs from oak trees and remains green throughout the year. In the winter, it's lovely delicately adorned with drops of rain and dew." I guess that's where the blueish beads come in. They are lovely but I don't really like them with this yarn and if you don't know the whole story, you just see this delicate green color, and those blue beads. It's just personal taste, that's all.
The pin is my very first shawl pin, and it's made from Nickel. It's beautiful! But before I can cast on I have to finish another shawl designed by Romi - Celaeno. I'm halfway done with it.

Reindling Jan. 26-2
I've baked another Reindling. The one I baked before this one, did not turn out that well. I think the yeast was inactive. I used different yeast this time, and it sure was active enough, I'd say. It doubled in size.

For those of you who are on ravelry, I have a special treat for you to look at. Claudia made this wonderful shawl from handspun yarn she purchased from me. It's such a beautiful work, I'm astonished, and can't quite believe, that I made the yarn for it. She found the perfect pattern for it. For those who are not on ravelry, you can visit her blog, but even though the photos there are beautiful, there are better pictures of the shawl on her ravelry project page.

Claudia sent me this photo to post here.

Seeing this makes me want to go through my fiber stash and look for suitable fiber to spin more of those long color changing yarns. By the way, I've decided to but up my handspun yarn in my shop for a limited time only, before they go back into my own handspun yarn stash. I love my yarn, and am always looking forward to finding the perfect project for each one of them. But I want to give you the chance to get something, if you really like it too. Right now there's slim pickings over there, but I'll fill it up soon. I haven't even introduced the yarn for sale here on my blog yet.

Yummy looking bread. I haven't made any since 2009 due to selling the condo and moving twice and all. Now I'm thinking about the yeast I just bought... The shawl Claudia knit is very pretty! I have some plans to spin some long stripes as well sometime. So fun to manipulate fiber!

Beautiful shawl, the colors really set it off. I just happened on her shawl today on Ravelry.

Claudia`s shawl is lovely! I would love a long striping yarn like that for a McCafferty!
Hope your swatched yarn works out for your shawl.

Romi's club was the only other one (other than Shakespeare in Lace) that I was TRULY tempted to join last year. Your first shipment looks lovely!

And Claudia's shawl - wow! Gorgeous.

Try a swatch with one of the beads - you'll see. They look very very different and not really blue at all when they are knit in. More like iridescent rain drops. :)

I'm so glad you like the kit!

Seeing your swatch I'm tempted to join that KAL too - LOL Lots of yummy things in this post ~ the bread looks wonderful and your kit is scrumptious too!

I'm glad you liked what I made with your yarn ~ what you wrote made me happy. FatCatKnits left a comment on Rav that I liked ~ she said it was nice to see how 3 sets of hands made this project.

The Pin & Lace Club seems to be great! The shawl from your customer is very pretty. Isn't it amazing to see what pretty things can be produced from your handspun yarn?

I thought I recognized that as one of Romi's designs. It's quite lovely and so is the shawl. I'm sure it was a very special surprise.
