Kanagawa mitten
I was lucky enough to test knit Kirstens newest design, Kawagawa mittens, even though it all didn't turn out the way I was expecting it.
pattern: Kawagawa mittens by Kirsten Kapur
yarn: Elann Peruvian Highland Sport (discontinued)
needles: 2.75mm
size: large
Something went horrible wrong:
My gauge was WAY off. I'm a very loose knitter, when it comes to colorwork.
The mitten was ginormous! I also didn't like the colors I've chosen. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the original mittens, so I'm going to knit a perfect pair sometime in the future. I'm not going to knit a mate to this one. Chalked up to experience, learning from ones mistake etc. .
I'm really happy whenever the pups are pooped out, and sleeping. Little Miss Margaret, also known as Busy Body, or Princess, sleeps on the couch, while Big Brother found a place between the couches. Both seemed comfortable enough.
And Denny, the other night, I found his bone hidden in one of my fiber boxes.
Sorry about the crappy photo, it was late in the evening, but I thought it was funny, because as soon as I discovered the bone, Denny came running, took it, and with I sigh (I swear) went to look for a different place to hide it.

Lovely mittens but they are pretty giant!!!
Oh The Princess is so sweet and how kind of her big brother to sleep 'Happily' on the couch!!
Denny is so funny, I just know he is going to hide hos bone somewhere else, just in case you might eat it while you are spinning or knitting!!
So sorry the mitten got so big... I think the colours look graet though.
So funny that you got to test knit these because I thought of you as soon as I saw Kirsten's pair.
Hopefully your second pair will work out better.
hahah I love that Maggie is called Busy Body hahahah and that Denny sighed when you found his bone heheh oh your dogs they crack me up!
Hallo!
Du könntest den Handschuh mit Filz füttern und als Topfhandschuh verwenden. Dann wäre die Arbeit nicht umsonst gewesen und der Handschuh kann noch gute Dienste tun.
Liebe Grüße
Theresia
I love that mitten pattern too. Can you felt the giant mitten?
Denny is hilarious.
I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the mitten in the first picture. And then I just had to laugh. Yes, I would say something went horribly wrong! I can't believe you persevered to finish the test knit.
I like them, and the colours. I couldn't see what was wrong until I scrolled to the picture with your hand in it.
You just need to find someone very large to wear them!!
Yes, those are some ginormous mittens, but I love the colors and your colorwork is perfect...if large. LOL!
I'm always finding Wilbur's bone nubs stuffed here and there. A few years ago, we dogsat for a friend who doesn't let her dog have rawhides, so we were constantly trying to hide them...and we're still rediscovering where we put them.
Sorry about the mitten!
That is just too cute about Denny!
I saw those mittens on Rav and yes, I LOVE the original ones. Definitely going to knit a pair of those. Denny is so funny. I hope he found a good, non-fibery, place to hide that bone.
It's a nice design ~ sorry this one came out too big :(
Love to see the pups sleeping away ~ peas in a pod. But what is it about fiber? Simcha is always trying to hide his bones in my yarn stash too - LOL
BTW gorgeous colors of top in that box!
that is so funny about Denny's bone - our girl hides hers on one of the end cushions of the couch - so sneaky!
I often find dog toys inside my knitting basket. How do they know that's where the good stuff is kept?
Hilarious about the mittens. Maybe they would felt down to a wearable size?
You should fill that mitten up with chocolate kisses and keep it in your coat pocket.
