Lumbosacral Stenosis

also termed lumbar spinal stenosis, lumbosacral nerve root compression, and many other names. That's Biko's diagnosis. I knew it before I talked to her Docotor. The internet helped find information once again. I was looking to describe her symptoms, and found an article on peteducation.com. She's got all the symptoms, except the self mutilation. I think we caught it early, and I'm happy that she's in such a good shape otherwise, and not too old (6 years).

She'll have surgery next Thursday.

Ugh, poor thing! I looked up all those words and found the article you mentioned. Your dog is incredibly good spirits considering her pain, isn't she? I hope everything works out. I think the toughest thing is going to be keeping her at rest after the surgery! Best of luck. I love my cats like they are family, so I know what it's like to worry about your pet!

I'm glad you now know what it is. Hopefully surgery will fix it. I'll read up on it a little bit later today.

Me and Sherman and sending good wishes Biko's way for a speady recovery!

I'm so sorry she needs surgery, but am glad it's a condition that can be corrected. Poor baby, I hope her pain will be relieved. Sundance, Sable and I send many good wishes for Biko and you. Do you think Sam will be sympathetic when she's home recovering?

sending good thoughts your way that surgery goes well

Biko is very resilient and brave and when I looked up her condition, it said dogs who were still coping reasonably well had a much better prognosis, so that bodes well!! We are thinking of you and send our best wishes and positive thoughts. Tori the Crippled Labrador had 2 giant operations, one for both her hips and then her cruchet ligament and she surprised us all with her quick recovery and her general happiness with life afterwards!! I am sure Biko, with Sam to cheer her up, will come through with flying colours too!!

Hero & I certainly know what you are going through! I am here to tell you the surgery is worth having done - the improvement for Hero in a few short days has been amazing. If things go downhill rapidly for Biko, don't wait until Thursday! Tails are wagging here for you.

I don't know anything about this but it sounds like surgery will correct the problem. What a blessing that Biko will receive the treatment she needs to help her feel better.
