We've got a front! - and maybe a winner or two?

Even with all the reading going on, I managed to finish the right front of the K.H. Cardigan. Eyes kept falling shut, it's so boring. I think it's also the solid color, no surprises there, no wait! About four inches into this piece I found a knot and the yarn started to feel hard and over twisted. I kept on knitting. For about 30 rows it was like that, then another knot. This was my second skein (2 knots). I found 1 knot in my first skein. What excitement! But really, this is not exactly cheap yarn, this shouldn't be this faulty! When it's good though, it's lovely.
Below you can see the beginning of the left front. This poor thing got caught, as I was giving the vacuum cleaner a workout. My vacuum is a scary beast! It swallowed my knitting with once whoop! I LOVE the addi lace needles even more now, because they refused to be sucked in, and held on for dear life. Not a bend or a scratch. The knitting was wound around the brush several times and I had pull real hard to get it off. I didn't open my eyes immediately, but as I dared to look, there was no damage done, just a little stretched out. My son heard the squeak and thought I had caught Sam's tail or something and HE squealed like that. Could have happened, but it was not so. You see, Sam is right by my side, when I manoeuvre the beast, and walks with me back and forth and in and out of each room. He's a very busy dog, or is he just telling me what to do again? ;o)
Anyway, no harm done, so I've picked it up and added a few inches just to make it forget the horrible accident.
Now, here's a plea and something to win as well. I'm looking for the Fall 2004 Interweave Knits magazine. Does anybody out there have it by any chance and is willing to part with it? I've got 2 copies of this book. One would go to the person who would exchange it for the magazine in question. The other one you could win, just because. If you would like to have a chance to get it, please leave a comment. You don't have to do anything for it, just tell me, that you would like me to put your name in the hat. That's it! Make sure to leave something where I can contact you just in case or check back after a couple of days.

By the way, did you knit in public today? I didn't. But then again, I didn't have a chance to knit until now anyway. Have a nice weekend, you all! ;o)

OMG! I think I would have had an episode if that happened to me. Although that happens with rugs a lot with me. I'm glad that it turned out ok, I'd hate for you to have to start a whole other side again. Be sure though that the recipient wears it! (I really hate knitting anything for my husband besides socks since he's REALLY picky.)

What do you need from the interweave fall 2004 issue? Any specific pattern you're looking for?

There's one up for sale on eBay though if you can't find one.

Holy Smokes, that vacuum story sounds crazy. I am glad everything worked out.

Wow, KHC looks lovely, and what a near tragedy averted!!! Harki likes to 'help' with the vacuuming and Peri likes to hide outside as if is a personal afront!!

Oh my, I am so glad you were able to retrieve the knitting project from the beast with no damage.

I don't have the issue you are looking for. As for the ones I have, most are missing. We've been building our home and most my stuff is in storage. I am hoping that the magazines are in a bin somewhere but I do fear that my dh threw them out. Good luck in getting the issue you are looking for.

You are so lucky you had no damage to your knitting or the needles...wow that was a close call. I do not get along very well with my vacuume cleaner. Not too long ago it sucked up the cord and chewed it up right to the wires inside. I just wrapped it in electrical tape and kept going. My engineer son was horrified and then I had to get a new cord...oh well!

happy knitting :)

Hallo Monika,
Gratulation, that looks great!! Die Jacke finde ich sehr sehr schön im Buch. Wenn ich das so bei Dir sehe, könnte sie auch auf meine Wunschliste kommen ;-)).
Übrigens: I havn't knit in Public on saturday. I think that's okay, isn't it?
Schönen Wochenanfang wünscht Dir

Wow, thats some pretty hearty knitting to get sucked in a vacuum and survive!! Thank goodness those needles were OK, too!

wow I can't believe it survived the vacuum with no damage! I'm still really liking the patter and the color, sorry it's so boring to knit.

Beautiful work, Monika!

Is your vacuum a Dyson? That sounds like something a Dyson would do! It's on my wish list.

I think I may have a copy in my box o' magazines. We are getting ready to move into our new house so I'll take a look! Your KH cardigan is looking beautiful, are you having any issues with the pattern? I've been reading in blogland that the pattern has got some weird parts.

I'd like to put my name in the hat if that's ok :)

On the magazine........I scan all my magz into the pc so I have them there on file but then I donate them to the humane society thrift store so they can try to resell them. Is there a particular pattern you're looking for? I do have that issue but only on the pc now. Let me know

Nice progress on the cardi! Scary about the vaccuum, though! Good thing those needles knew to hold tight!
