Argh, daylight saving time is still bothering me, even though we are finally back to normal. You go tell Happy, that it's way too early to get up and have breakfast, when his internal clock tells him otherwise!
As much as I like Fall, there's always something, which I really don't like about it. For instance, as soon as it gets cold outside, we'll have unwanted guests coming into the house. We were successful trappers today, and I woke up my son to get rid of trap and mouse! I did allow him to go back to sleep though. :o) Funny enough, it's always just one mouse invading our space, well thank God for that!
Yesterday we started tackling all the fallen leaves, but even with "walking" pneumonia it's no walk in the park to rake the leaves and put them in paper bags, and carry the bags into the garage. Yeah, well, we missed yesterdays pick up, and the next one will only be next week, and it's rain in the forcast, every day, and it's paper bags, you know. I felt foolish enough to schlepp them around, when a woman showed up, grinning and sticking some advertisment in my hand, while I wrestled the heavy bag. She thought I needed a break anyway, and could benefit from a little reading. The one sheet might just have been enough to tip me over, if it weren't for the huge bag in front of me. Another thing to recycle! Ah well, some blisters later, and with a steaming mug of tea in front of me, I decided to show you my Kai-Mei socks today: oh by the way, my son has "walking" pneumonia not I. We'll finish the yard clean up next sunny day, whenever that will be.
I've preordered Cookie A.'s book "Sock Innovation", and bought actually two copies. One for me, and one for Hannah. She's actually knit Cookie A. socks before and liked knitting her designs. So she got the book for her birthday in June.
This is my first Cookie A. sock design and I loved the Kai Mei the most.
The yarn is Knit Picks Donegal, I dyed some time last year. It's very soft.
Since I finished them back in April, I don't remember much about knitting them, except it was a pleasure. I loved the butterfly stitch, and they fit.
At the beginning of October I visited Hannah in Halifax. Have to show you some picture of that trip too. While I was there, she was knitting a black sock from Cookie A.'s book. It looked huge.
A week later, when I was at home again, a package arrived with a pair of socks in it for ME!
Yep, Hannah has knit me Angee! She didn't have enough of either color, so she made one black and one natural. I love them and they fit very well!
Even though she's quite busy with her stuff at University, it's the only time of year, where Hannah gets some knitting time. I don't know how she does it.

i like the tweedy kai-mei socks and love the black and white angees. i'm doing eunice now. there are so many great patterns in that book!
I love your new socks! Very unusual and have almost a celtic feel to the design. With those and the socks Hannah made you are definitely ready for the cooler weather :)
Hope David feels better soon....
Beautiful socks! Hannah is quite the knitter, just like her Mom.
I want this book! I haven't actually knit any cookie socks, not even the monkey socks, they are on my list though but I love all her designs. That butterfly stitch looks interesting and I love your angee's, warm legs this winter!!!
I think I need to send Bosty "the mouse hunter" up to you for a day or two. Just two days ago he went on the trail of something, decided it was in the bank of the hill behind the garage and started digging, a few minutes later he's dug the mouse right out of the hill. Instant mouse catcher :)
I'm with you on the time change. I do not like it! Hope your son feels better soon and how great to get socks from your daughter. :-)
You are not alone regarding daylight savings... I have a 3-year old who likes to get up at about 5am and start talking to me till I finally get out of bed at 7am. Now, it's been pushed back to 4am according to my body.
you have also reminded me that I have a pair of Kai-Mei's on the needles for my grandmother, and I should probably just finish them up. :)
Awesome to see you're back! Wow has Happy grown!! I really love Hannah's socks! I keep telling myself some day I'll knit Cookie A's designs... sigh!
Hope David is feeling better soon! WP is no fun - been there myself!
Lovely socks! Looking at your socks, I think I'd better take another shot at the patterns in that book!
What a lovely gift from Hannah, and the are gorgeous too!! Love your Kai Mei socks, the colour is very Autumnal and the do fit ever so swirlily well. Leaves are everywhere here too, the rain and wind had blown them off a few trees.
The Kai-Mei socks are really cute and I love Hannah's fraternal Angee socks. Wow, she's gift knitting already! Excellent.
Don't you love folks who are handing things out? They're so much more persistent lately.
Hope your son recovers soon! Yikes.
Black and white socks! That's very funny. And like a good mother wearing the ice cream bucket and straw hat in public, you'll wear these too.
Nooo. Not the same at all. Black and white socks rock.
Very clever Hannah
I knitted both of these and love them. You'll enjoy the book a lot and don't forget about the single patterns.
I love the black and white socks.
Monika, was sind diese orangen Socken schön geworden !!!!!
Ich hab es ja eigentlich nicht mit Löchern in den Strümpfen, aber die hier gefallen mir ausgesprochen gut - vor allem am Fuß !
Love the socks, they are beautiful, love the way they move up the leg. Great to see you are back, have missed reading your blog and seeing your gorgeous dogs. Anita in the UK
