Now I've finally caked them, and started knitting.
I'm using Evelyn's No-Sew Blankie pattern to make as many rectangles as I can get from the yarn I have, and in the end I will have to do some sewing. At first I thought I'm going to knit them together right away, but I'd like to play with the placement of the colors a bit more, once knitting is done.
It will take me a while. Here are the first three finished rectangles. They are not blocked yet. Size of each one is 16" x 19". The following was the first one. You can see the bumpy seams where you knit the mitered square to the straight section. I didn't like how that looked very much.
The method I have is to take a ball, knit until it's gone, add the next shade and so on. I'm using a contrast color for the middle rectangle.
Here in the blue I've used a different method to attach the square and it looks smoother. (# 3)
# 2 rectangle, the first attachment was still done the original way, but I changed it for the rest of the rectangle.
Anyway, I'm knitting away on them, with lots of spinning in between. Right now it's still fun, but I think I will need to knit some socks or other small things now and again, before it gets too boring.

Wow, those colours are fantastic. Love the mitred squares. Shall look forwad to seeing the completed blanket. A few socks in between will take the boredom away.

Oh, was fuer ein tolles Projekt! Es muss ein Spass sein, mit den tollen Farben zu jonglieren. Ich bin schon gespannt, wie die Decke wachsen und am Ende dann aussehen wird.

I could just look at all those beautiful colours for ages!! You are very dedicated to your blanket. I love the contrasting centre and I also agree that knitting them together as you go could be risky for their arrangement. Happy knitting.

All of the colors are beautiful. I especially love your brown and coral rectangle you have made but the other two are equally as nice. I'm just on a coral kick right now.
Wow!it was fun watching all that fiber turn into skeins of yarn and now it'll be fun watching all that yarn turn into a blanket! It's going to be fabulous.

That's gorgeous. Oh, wow, all that is handspun? That's going to be fabulous. So the center seam was still the original but the one more or less above it you modified? Not that I might be knitting another blanket that I saw you knit first....
That is beautiful. I think I'd just get stuck with the cakes, as they look so lovely all together---like something from the KnitPicks catalog. Glad you're working on them, though, the squares look great too!

That is going to be a seriously beautiful blanket! I followed from a distance your spinning for it, last year, and admire your endurance in such a long-term project. Really really pretty yarn + awesome knitting skills + great pattern = superb final project. Surely?
