Handspun Friday - Shetland fiber

Last year I dyed up some of my Shetland Humbug fiber, one in green, and one in red. I've spun the green already, and here's the red one.
July 8, 2009 ~ 5oz Shetland Humbug dyed by me

I turned this fiber into this yarn:
Shetland Humbug-2-ply-595yds-5.4oz-16-5

and wound it into a yarn cake:
Shetland Humbug-2-ply-595yds-5.4oz-16-8

to make this shawl:
Clothilde-1

So here are the specs:

yarn: 5.4oz Shetland fiber, 2-ply, ~595yds
shawl: Clothilde by Kristen Hanley Cardozo
needles: 4mm
mods: I did 3 repeats of chart 3, and since I thought it still looked a little unfinished, I added a border.
start-finish: March 2010, 22-27
size after blocking: 32" x 64"

Clothilde-4

Clothilde-8

Here is Clothilde hanging out with Hamamelis:

I wanted to spin some yarn to knit a shawl - mission accomplished!

Today is Denny's first puppy class. It's in the evening, and David is going to take him. I need a break.

Your shawl is amazing - I love handspun Fridays and eventually hope I can produce yarn as gorgeous as yours. Good luck to Denny - what a face he has!

Wow! That red came out great and what a pretty shawl. Are you planning out your spinning during your Denny break or are you in need of a nap?

You so make me want to take up spinning. But, don't know where to begin. Can't seem to find a class here in the Chicagoland area...

Lemonade on the deck, grab a glass and come visit me in the garden,

Beautiful spinning, and the shawl is gorgeous! That red is awesome.
One of my favourite things is seeing the puppy training classes at PetSmart when I'm picking up pet food. It's like watching a kindergarten class. Too sweet. Wishing your son a great class with Denny. :)

Omigosh! You did an outstanding job with the yarn and the shawl! I'm so impressed and I need to come to your house to learn to spin properly.

What will you do with yourself while Denny is off to class learning how to be a polite and quiet gentleman?

WOW! Gorgeous! I hope someday I can spin like that - seriously!

Good luck to Denny - or should I say good luck to David and other class members? Let us know.....

Am I reading correctly that you knit that shawl in 5 days?! If so, I bow to the master.

I was waiting to see this after I saw the two Ravelry photos. Beautiful as always.

Did you create the border? It fits perfectly.

I hope class is fun for Denny and David. Our last class is coming up Sunday. Not that we are finished. Not by a long shot - LOL

Wow, what a wonderful shawl (two indeed). From your so even handspun. Lovely. You knit so fast, impressing if you think that there are two puppies around. I think the puppy class is really good for Denny. As well as for you as you can take your time-out as long as the boys are away:-)

Beautiful fibre, which became beautiful yarn, which became a beautiful shawl! Sigh. Admiration is the only option!

There you go again! It is too clever and too beautiful.
I loved the step by step story too. How deeply satisfying it must be to take something from beginning to end in that fashion.
