Handspun Friday - Black Purl

I think I'm going to adopt Shannon's hand spun Friday posts. Otherwise I'll be all over the place. Structure is good.

fiber: super wash 60% wool, 25%mohair, 15%nylon, 15%

colorway: Black Pearl by Vines come get entangled

weight: 2.75oz

yardage: 280yds

plying: Navajo plied

This fiber blend is my favorite for sock yarn. It's such a pity, that there was not more fiber. When I was finished spinning, I had my doubts about this colorway, but after I plied it, and wound the skein, I loved it! Phew! (swipe sweat off forehead). I think I'll spin some solid color to go with it, so I can still use this yarn for socks.

When you click for a close up look, you can see the fuzziness of the mohair. I just love that.

You are lucky there is a border between your house and mine, or your handspun stash wouldn't be safe. I love all the stuff you spin.

Beautiful! You still got a ton of yardage for not very much fiber!

That looks like a lovely and fun spin! I am always amazed at what a braid or batt looks like vs the finished yarn, and even how we as individual spinners impact the finished yarn by how we prep the fiber. Lovely stuff!

Yum, it's gorgeous, and that's the perfect blend for socks!! It's strange that it came in such a small amount. I'll have to stalk that shop. :-)

das sieht nach richtig toller Sockenwolle aus.

Mohair soll ganz toll sein in Socken, ich habs aber noch nicht probiert.

Wieviel sind denn 2,7 oz? Reicht das Socken?

Beautiful spinning! I've been on a spinning hiatus and looking at your pictures I want to get started again.

Beautiful spinning. I love the color of that fiber.
You make me realize how much I need to work on my Navajo Plying.

Don't know what you're talking about - your spinning hasn't skipped a beat! Your handspun totally rocks!! I confess I am waiting with baited breath to see the pink/green multi plied up! Smoky purple is beautiful but it's February Funk time and the bright colors really give me a boost! I'm mesmerized by the bright bobbins! LOL!

I like the handspun Friday idea. Good push to actually spin something! That purple is so pretty and I don't really even like purple. :-)

Beuatiful choice! I love the colors. I think you got a lot of yardage for the amount of fiber you had. I can't wait to see next weeks installment.

Die Farbschattierungen vin Deinem neu gesponnenen Garn ist superschön. Wirklich perfekt als Sockengarn. Socken mit Mohair habe ich noch nicht gestrickt. Wäre mal einen Versuch wert.
