Handspun Friday - Real Fresh

Handspun - Real Fresh

This was the first fiber I spun after a longer spinning break. The singles were seriously overspun, and I didn't touch them for a while, afraid what they would do while plying. I absolutely adore this color! It's so many shades of green, just beautiful.

fiber: superwash Merino

colorway: Real Fresh by Dyed in the Wool Handmade (Hi Maggie!) :o)

weight: 2 x 4oz.

finished yarn: navajo plied (boy that was a struggle)

yardage: 1. skein ~ 252yds, 2. skein ~ 183yds

WPI: ~ 20 (I finally looked for and found my WPI measuring device)

close up-navajo plied

The fiber was a pleasure to spin. I should have waited until I got better into it again, practice makes perfect, oh well, can't do anything about that now.

Biko Jan. 13

And just because I think she's cute: Biko very uncomfortable on the living room sofa. She's only up there, because I told her to, contrary to Sam who think's the sofa is his.

Yum! Looks like a fresh Granny Smith apple.
My dogs, who were never allowed on the furniture, now have taken over my sofa.

I can't wait to see what you make with your newly spun yarn. Love the color.

Like I tell everyone whoever asks, the yarn I spin will not be like what I see on the shelves in stores, but it will be perfect for me.

Now I want to spin ...

Love the shades of green! Milo, too, believes the couch is his and his alone.

Seriously gorgeous handspun ! Nice work !

Bingo doesn't claim the sofa , but has a favourite spot on a chair near the front window . Gotta keep an eye out for what's going on in the neighbourhood , ya know .

Poor Biko doesn't look very relaxed up there - LOL

Your spun yarn is simply refreshingly spring in a skein :) What will it be? I think it would make great fingerless mitts - IMHO

Biko is such a good puppy! She's so funny.

Pretty yarn!

Hannah's sweater came out great. Fab photos and that is too funny she was in a cemetary! Wasn't the hoot of an owl supposed to foretell a death at one time?

That's a lovely spring green. And it's so funny how dogs know when they're doing something "wrong" even if you tell them to do it.

Biko is soooo cute - and I really like the striped teddy bear sweater too.

That's the kind of colour that makes you smile - even as the winds outside still blow!

Poor pup may be uncomfortable but is still so cute.

Why am I in the mood for green apple pie after looking at those pictures?

My favorite color! I see that purple peeking in, too. Pea/olive/chartreuse green with purple and orange --- LOVE THEM! --- but especially this green! The yarn turned out beautifully.

But, I am mystified as to how you arrange your yarn bundles - would you mind sharing?? pleaze?

The yarn looks lovely! I really like this color.

And I now see what you mean when you say that my Ysja looks a lot like your Biko.... Maybe they are related somehow?

Pass the whipped cream! Yummy yummy yarn!! LOL!! And don't worry about the singles - the overall weight looks pretty consistent as a 3-ply. Mmmm love that fresh green - what a boost for bland February!!

WOW the colour is SO BEAUTIFUL. I have been commissioned to dye and spin some green yarn, and this has totally inspired me to get off my ass and just try to make green happen, already!
