Patchwork is out of my system for good!

So, this morning I went through our tiny spare room, and found the following, dragged everything downstairs, and took some pictures. These are two tops for pillow cases. They survived the move from Austria to Canada, therefore they were made before 1996. Back then Patchwork and Quilting just got known around where we lived. There were no pretty prints to buy like you can find today. I used mostly old clothes, but also bought some prints, I don't know what they were meant for. Aprons, dresses? Who knows. I only know I cut up A LOT of clothes. I don't think these two will ever be finished by me.
I also found this wall hanging, made out of silk fabric. My first and only silk Quilt, if I remember right. It was also made before the move. I remember having a lot of fun with this one. It's hand quilted, but silk is not easy to work with.

The colores are really rich, not as light as in the picture below.

A close up.

And here's my single bed finished top. It might never get finished by me as well. After I saw it all, I thought, oh pretty, but it all will be put away again. I just can't.

This seems to me, was a part of my life that definitely is over now. I may sew some bags, pillow cases, and maybe toys in the future, but doubt, that patchwork and quilting will be a hobby of mine again.

You are so very skilled at this craft! It seems ashame not to at least finish them even if you don't think you want to start anything more right now.

Nice work! I don't think I'll every try quilting again either. You might look into having that top quilted. Try on of thocal quilt shops and see if they offer the service or know of someone who does.

I like the patchworked thing you made very much. Too bad if you don't finish them. Maybe you can find someone who wants to do it for you?

Don't remind me of the friendship star I still have laying around in the corner of my bedroom, 1/4 done. The next one to touch it will be the movers and then, hopefully, when it's cold enough, I might get in the mood to finish it off sometime. Lets hope so.

I know exactly what you mean. I too, have a quilt I just can't seem to finish - I think it is out of my hands now. But I think your log cabin top is beautiful and maybe you can find someone to finish it for you. I love the bear too. Oh, and I saw your scarf in SpinOff - very nice.

Those look great! Are the animals paper-pieced?

Your quilt projects reminded me of two UFO's that I have. They are unfinished quilts that have been handed down to me with a note saying maybe one day you can finish these. One is from my grandmother, the other one is from my great grandmother, who I never met. I will probably never finish them but I hold on to them because they are precious to me.

I'm glad you took the pictures so we can see....beautiful quilts :) You should be very proud of your work. But I know exactly how you feel about not being the one to finish them. I have a feeling the same thing will happen to mine. I should dig it out someday and take some photos...we'll see if I get ambitious enough to actually do that?

I think your patchwork and quilting is lovely. I like the green!! The silk one is beautiful, and so nicely quilted!! I ahve a quilt and a wallhaging floating about. The quilt needs quilting, it's about 25 years old!!

Hallo, Monika!

Birgit

Your patchwork IS beautiful! Like artwork! I salute you! Patchwork never caught on with me - too fiddly and time-consuming so I have a profound appreciation for anyone who does it well!!

The log cabin top doesn't look too far from done - a little mashine quilting and you'll have a beautiful quilt!!! I thought my quilting days were over too, but I am definitely on a new run. While traveling it's not possible though, so I've managed to knit a pair of socks and started another pair (and I still have 12 hours of plane time coming up!)I love both your recent pairs of socks!
