These are the Sockamania Club socks "Celebration" for May 2008. I made them with sock yarn I've got as a B-day gift back in November. I like the colorway, which is called "Honeypot", but the yarn was faulty.
Throughout the skein, every few yards, there was a frayed spot like that, sometimes even worse than that. But being a merino sock yarn, it was nice to knit with, and surprised me quite a bit, because looking at the skein before knitting, I was underwhelmed by the color. I don't buy merino sock yarn for knitting socks myself, they just don't last long for the effort. But I like it to knit lace with it. This time I thought, what the heck, it's only 310yds, and I can't get any more of it, so socks it will be.
I first tried to knit the "Firestarter" sock with this yarn, but gave up. It sat on the coffee table for a while, and even thought this is a cable pattern, I think it's O.K.

I live in Halifax and have used it before. It is superwash, but will shrink a little in the dryer. Mine have lasted me for a year and a half now!

The socks turned out beautifully, they look much nicer knitted up than the wool did just sitting there!!!
Boy, I had forgotten all about sockamania. That was a great pattern choice for the yarn - but what a bummer seeing those frayed spots. Very disconcerting for as you mention merino wool isn't the most durable to begin with. Those better just be used for house socks - but they sure came out great. Love the chocolately brown color.

The pattern looks really good with that yarn! It pops enough to see the cables. Nice looking sokcs. I'm glad it was easy to knit because that fraying would defintely put me off.

too bad about the yarn being a bit frayed at spots, but the socks turned out rather lovely. i do like the color, too. kind of subdued, but they really allow you to see the stitch pattern.

Wunderschön, Monika - ich brauche dringend auch mal ein paar gemäßigte Socken. Aber die mag ich halt so überhaupt nicht stricken...
