This is not a success story!

I love a bowlful of fiber, no matter what kind. Last year in June, I dyed 16oz of Corriedale, in four different colors. This blue was one of them. There's 2oz pre-drafted fiber in this bowl. Which turned into this...

... 2 oz of spun fiber salad. I think my drive band was too long. I've shortened it, because my wheel didn't want to take in the fiber I fed it. I made two bobbins, each with 1oz of this fiber, thinking I could turn these over twisted singles into cabled yarn. Somehow it didn't turn out that way. I think I have to read the instructions again, which can be found in the last Spin.Off magazine. It was not my intention to make cables yarn in the beginning, and it didn't work out anyway. I'm really sad that I lost this fiber, now I'm left with another couple of ounces. What will I do with that? I liked the different shades of blue a lot. So sad.

This has nothing to do with the above. A few weeks ago I saw those cute little project cubes on Amy's blog (scroll down a bit),

and treated myself to this little cute cube, bought at Amy's shop. As soon as I saw them on her blog, I knew the green/orange one was going to be mine. I've stuffed sock yarn for three pairs of socks in it.

so sad. Can you dye more and ply with the newer dyed colors?

Or, you could spin up the rest and have a giveaway!

Love the cube, I am going to check them out.

That is disappointing - the blues are so pretty. Maybe the yarn salad can become a needle felting project? The project bag is so cute - I can see why you snapped up that one!

At least you still have the pretty blue fiber. Maybe you can find a clear glass vase and display the mess? That cube is cute! I really need to get reacquainted with my sewing machine one of these days. Sigh. You have the pretty stuff to show! :-)

I like your new little project cube. It's very cute.\

Have you tried seeting the twist in the yarn with a washing? You could try simmering it in water on the stove. One of my books mentions doing this.

Oh no, that doesn't look very good! And the color where just so lovely.

The cube looks very pretty though.

Sorry about the fibre....

I think I should be looking at replacing my drive-band, too...the original hemp seems to have stretched quite a bit already.

Was Du alles ausprobierst, tsetse.
Susanne

So sorry...so pretty. You have to find a use for it....????

Maybe you could make a collage out of it ;)

Monika, Monkia--think of it as *novelty* yarn! ;-D

Yikes, I think I would save it for a felting project. Or maybe hair on a mermaid doll. A mermaid with blue twisted hair would be cute :).

Oooh, how sad. The blues are gorgeous.

Owwww!

If you have the patience, sit before the wheel, and respin the singles in the opposite direction. It will take a lot of the kink out.

You could then get a normal 2-ply.

You might just want to try plying these two together. You would get a highly twisted yarn...but that blue is just so wonderful

If you want cabled yarn, you are going to need four plys to start - spinning two - two plys, then spinning those four together....

Yarn is never wasted! You may not like what you created, but it has a use. There are some really fun and interesting things you can do with it.

Yes, you need some directions, and if I could be there with you, you would be doing fine. It's a learning curve, for sure, and you seem to have some of right. Just finishing a bit.

Let me know if you want any help.

Don't be too quick to toss that fiber salad!! I see an opportunity for novelty yarn here! Have you considered plying it in the other direction at a 90 degree angle over some factory yarn in a dark navy??? Get out your creative thinking cap girl! I just know this gorgeous fiber CAN be saved!! :D

I really like that yarn! I'd probably wear it as a chic designer scarf! Very cute project cube.
