Wool Peddler Shawl

This is the first day my husband is better since he was admitted to the hospital and a big load is of my chest. Any day now he'll be home to recover from this frightening experience.
Thank you all for your well wishes and caring words!
I took this as a good sign and wanted to show you my wool peddler. I'm in love with this pattern! It's so simple but beautiful. I made a few mistakes, tinked back 4 rows to fix some, and left others. It took me a while, since I felt to restless to knit at all, but eventually it was finished. I have to admit that I got bored a bit, and not with the garter stitch, as one might think, but with the lace part! Go figure! ;o)
It's not easy to use variegated yarn for lace knitting, but this one turned out nice, if I do say so myself.
Hannah modeled it for me and of course Sam as well, both were not really enthusiastic about it, but there was no way around it. ;o)
Here are the stats:
yarn: Artyarns Ultramerino 6, Luxury Merino wool, color # 135, 3 100gr skeins and for the binding off row a few yards of a forth skein (1 skein is 274 yds)
needle: 5mm
size after blocking: 37" x 70" wide
pattern: by Cheryl Oberle from the book "Folk shawls"
start: Dec. 25, 2006 - Jan. 05 2007
This is my very first triangular shawl for MYSELF! I don't know if and when I'll wear it. Maybe at home first, to get comfortable using it, but I like just looking at it as well.
Stay tuned, there's a contest coming up soon! ;o)

What a gorgeous shawl!
The colours are stunning; I love how the large garter panel helps show off the variegated colourway.
I'm glad your husband is doing better, well wished to you both!

OMG, is that gorgeous, Monika!! Is Artyarns Merino 6 a worsted weight, dk or sport?? I have that pattern and have put off knitting it because I just couldn't find a yarn that I liked. But that is gorgeous! And I'm so glad your hubby is home recuperating. That's the best place to be with all his loved ones around him. Now you can relax a bit. Best Wishes!

Hi Sue J., I would say Ultramerino 6 is worsted weight, but on the lighter side. I've knit with it before using 4mm and 4.5mm needles and the fabric was fine. I'm neither a loose nor a tight knitter.

That shawl is simply beautiful. I've never wanted to knit lace, but I may make that shawl. You should be very proud of it.

Glad to hear the hubby is doing better.

A nice pairing of beautiful yarn and pattern! Hope all goes well with your husband. I know how stressful it is to have sick family members. Best wishes that the rest of the year just gets better.

Glad your husband is out of hospital and doing better. It's tough to be sick or to be worrying about someone.
And the shawl looks great.

Your shawl is breathtaking. I love it! I have that book, but haven't done anything out of it yet. So many wonderful shawl patterns and so little time! :)

Hallo Monika,
Dein Tuch ist ein Traum! Die Farben und die Fotos - ich bin hin und wech! Viel schöner als das Original.
Prima das es mit der Gesundheit von Karl auch wieder besser bestellt ist,
Das macht richtig gute Laune.

The shawl is so beautiful. I love Artyarns Merino, the colors are so.. mm, you know what I mean. I myself just finished the Box Shawl out of that book also (with a few modifications.) It knit up so fast, it was great. I'm glad to hear other patterns in that book are fairly quick knits.

I've been reading your blog for a while, and I am glad you family members are getting better.
