This is some fiber dyed by Shelby of Spinning Awesome Good. I'm especially excited about this colorway. Shelby asked for inspiration, and I told her of the color combination, which was on my mind for some time now. She dyed this wonderful fiber flower for me.
This is BFL/Tussah fiber blend. I must admit, I'm no fan of Tussah. I don't like the slubs, which come with it. I DO love the shiny yarn though, but I've discovered that BFL does have a little luster on its own. It was a pleasure to spin. I wanted to preserve the colors, so I navajo plied it. I've got ~ 238yds out of the 4oz.
It would have been impossible for me to spin, with Denny so close by, some time ago. He's really been good about it, even though he was VERY interested in the fiber as you can see.
He moved around the fiber bowl, looking at it from all angles.
He wanted to get a really good sniff of it, but with a little warning from me, he left it alone.
But, a couple of hours later, he came back and grabbed a mouth full of it, and took off. It's always been in his nature, to go back to places, and things he was shooed away, to do what he wanted to do in the first place. His memory is excellent, and it astonishes me every time.
While I was spinning that day, we heard a small airplane flying over our house. When we are outside, both dogs look up, and follow it as long as they can see it. But that day, we were inside. Denny heard it, and looked up, expecting to see it fly over our heads. He connected the sound with an airplane, that was very cool.

The tilers have been at work since Wednesday, and they think they'll be done by tomorrow. The kitchen and hall are almost finished, and I like it very much, even though the tiles have more different shades of colors, then I had expected. They still have to do the powder room and the laundry room, plus all the cutting along the walls. Slowly it's coming together.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Oh my... that's a beautiful yarn! Love that grey and orange together. Guess it will be self striping?
Love it! Beautiful yarn! I'll have to look more into her rovings when I get some more money :)
Wow, Denny is such a big guy now. I'm so amazed at how quickly they grow.
Your spinning is gorgeous. Love those colors.
I've spun BFL/Tussah a couple of times now -- it's a great blend. And you did such a beautiful job with that yarn.
Lucky that Denny didn't grab more. That fiber would be worth fighting over.
Sounds like Denny is too smart for his own good.
I feel the same way about Tussah, but aslways end up buying tussah yarn because it just feels so good!
It is a beautiful colour, well colours. And how lucky you are to have such a good helper in Denny!! The Boys do seem to be inordinately clever!!
I so want to learn how to spin. This a fab yarn for the perfect fall project. You and Mia really inspire me to take this one
i love bfl/silk. i'm sure you will do amazing things with this yarn!
HEY! I was eyeing this color in her shop and someone grabbed~! now that I see it spun up,I'm totally gonna get some
Denny cracks me up! better you than me
I love the yarn being navajo plied. The colors look really nice together and I'd be tempted to knit a little striped tiger out of it. It's funny what dogs remember. Nimitz found some cat vomit a few days ago and every time we go upstairs now he goes into that room and checks to see if there's more even though he saw me pick it up.
Beautiful yarn! Your spinning is amazing.
You have such a great eye for color and color combinations. Your new yarn is lovely.
I wonder if you would have gotten much more yardage if Denny hadn't taken a mouthful ...
He's such a handsome guy, so unique! And I was thinking about Happy being the boss now - didn't that coincide with Denny getting fixed? Heheh. That yarn is gorgeous, you can't beat a good navajo ply!
Lovely looking yarn!
Gillian
That fiber spun up just as beautifully as I expected, in your capable hands! BFL/silk could make some nice sturdy socks. Do you have a plan for it yet?
I'm interested in your fiber bowl. Do you predraft all the fiber before starting to spin?
I always thought Denny was a smart one. Those smart ones can be hard to raise but they are usually amazingly wonderful adult dogs. Cooper doesn't like the sound of planes. I think he remembers being flown to me when he was a baby. I'm sure it was very loud and scary to him.
Beautiful yarn!!
I love when you post before and after of your handspun. The color change and texture change always amaze me. Denny reminds me of my younger son! Temptation always seemed to get the best of him, too! The rainbow in the previous post is gorgeous. I think they're so special.
Beautiful, beautiful fibre and perfectly spun - I can see why Denny was such a fan of it, lol!
(He sounds adorable)
My gosh, I love that yarn (and I'm not even a fan of orange)!!!
Denny is too cute. When I bought some roving, Wilbur was fascinated. He kept sticking his head in the bag and just sniffing....BIG sniffs. I wondered if he was hearkening back to his herding ancestors. LOL!
Oooowee - that is pretty yarn! Will be watching to see what knitting project it becomes...
