Right now I don't feel the love for continuing with it, so I think I'm going to take a break for a while. I thank you all for coming by, reading, and leaving comments, and/or keeping contact via emails. It really meant a lot to me to hear from you! Blogging without all of you is not worth doing it. I'm not sure when I will be back or if at all.

Here's the gang saying Goodbye for now! Wishing you all the best! I'll be over at Ravelry and on Flickr with photos.

Thanks, and take care!
Made it into 3ply yarn a little over 1,500yds. Just a bit more than I will need as a main color for the Kex blanket (by Stephen West). I've got some multicolored yarn for the rest.

Here it is before the dye bath (still in this state, will have to wait for a warm and sunny day),

And I've had a fine mail day today. I've received a little package from Anna Marie of Corgi Hill Farm. There was scrumptious Merino/Angora/Silk fiber (3oz), stitch markers, a fiber sample and an orifice hook. It felt like it was my birthday! Thank you so much, Anna Marie! :o)

I just had fun watching Chinese crackers unfold in hot oil! (Yeah, I know, I'm easily entertained.)

My son brought home a box of these crackers, which look like colored glass before you throw them into hot oil. He got them from friends, and I'm grateful for this new experience.

So here's a before picture:
They kept running up the stairs to check on me too, quite enjoyable. But then it was time to call them inside. It took me a while to get them cleaned up. No pictures of dirty dogs, but look...

they were running through this
and I thought this looked interesting, the layer of snow turned into ice, that broke, and the melting water found its own way off the property.
I was lucky enough to test knit it for her. It was such a fun knit, never boring, because of the color changes, and also the stitch pattern changes. It's well written. The only thing I find hard, when knitting Alexandra's patterns is coming up with a color combo, and not copying her. I LOVE her color choices, and hardly ever can one improve on that. She must like the same colors as I do. :o)

So, here's Misae! I know, I know, my color choice seems to remind a bit of Christmas, but I really love the colors together, so there, I don't care. Besides, I have enough shawls to wear throughout the year, so I can wear this around Christmas time, if I want to. ;o) I came up with several color combos for this shawl, but this one won, because just looking at it relaxed me, and made me smile.

Argh, there are so many white dog hairs on it. I was blocking it in the dining room, and many inquiring doggy noses came by to see if I did a good job, and they were shedding all over it. Sigh.
We spent a lot of time outside. At the same time it was warm and the snow was melting throughout the day at almost the same rate it came down. This morning though there were flurries again, with the sun coming out at the same time.

That's Happy's ears you see in the picture.

He's squinting a little here. Denny had to stay inside, because he was barking mad, I mean barking like a mad dog, when he saw the camera in my hands, and it was too early for that ruckus. Maggie's still sleeping.

Now about todays handspun yarn.

It's FatCatKnits Fiber Club, October 2011, 5oz Polwarth, colorway "Early American". I made it into 2-ply yarn, 488yds.

I'm still spinning away for the Extreme Plying SAL for Southern Cross Fiber, but one of my fingers shows some signs of wear and tear, mostly it's slized open where the freshly spun fiber runs over it, before the wheel pulls it onto the bobbin. Which means I have to take longer breaks to let it heal. Oh well, there's always knitting, right?

Have a wonderful weekend!
Meanwhile Denny is off somewhere eating bunny poop. Sorry, no photographic evidence of that. It's too gross how much he enjoys that.
I've dedicated my full spinning time to this right now, even though many wonderful fiber braids are beckoning to me, but I want to get a few more extreme plied yarns done.

Geothermal a SCF fiber club of September 2010! The fiber is Corriedale, 4oz.

I thought this colorway would be great for another M-ply yarn (2-ply/chain plied).

Fresh off the Niddy Noddy.

I've got 169yds of it. After a relaxing bath it looked quite good.
I had to be very, very quiet, because usually, they hear me move and jump up right away, thinking we are about to do something fun. That shows just how deep her sleep was at that moment. I had to take the picture from all the way across the basement, so it's a little grainy. You get the idea though...
I had five of them, and today I will just sum it up. I enjoyed knitting them all. My sock blanks were single thread, not like most, which or double stranded, so that the socks will turn out exactly the same. Mine are similar, and I think Ginny did a great job dyeing them. Here we go:

sock blank socks # 2:

# 5 is my least favorite, but the yarn (Merino) is wonderful. I wash them in the washing machine, and even put them in the dryer sometimes. I love wearing them. I gave a pair away as a gift too. It was fun, and now I'm back to knitting regular socks with wonderful sock yarn from my stash. So much to choose from ....
First the fiber: Sweet Wine, Corriedale, 3.9oz

I devided Sweet Wine into halfs, and added 2oz Polwarth from SCF FAll/Winter 2012/2013 semi solids pack in pink.

I spun and chain plied each bump.

And then I 3-plied them together.

I've got 130yds of it. Then I had some left over of Sweet Wine, and the pink one. I chain plied it again and got 5yds of the green one, and 8yds of the pink one.

I really like how the double chain plied yarn looks. The green one reminds me of Pesto. Yum!

Last night it snowed again, but at the same time it's warm and thawing. I'm off to go outside with the pups to enjoy the snow as long as it lasts.
Denny on a chair in my studio.
Happy on the sofa in the basement, and Maggie in front of Denny's crate.

I unearthed my cross country skies this winter, but realized, that without the appropriate shoes I could not use them. Maybe next year. I really wanted to do this, but ... time got away from me.

Anyway, I've knit a pair of mittens a while ago, and haven't blogged about them yet. Simply said, "I love them!" The pattern, and the yarn, both are pleasing to my eyes.
This is a color combination I like a lot.

To make it even more fun I decided to add a little splash of red. LOVE it!
I can hardly wait to see how this will knit up. I have ~ 426yds, 2-ply yarn of it.
Oh wow! It feels like Christmas!

Here's the fiber: Corriedale, 110gr each

And here's more wonderful stuff. I've got 16oz "The Sky is the limit" studio colorway on Falkland. Tote bags, a mug, cards, a batt pack. Oh my!
This looks so much better in real life. My poor little camera couldn't cut it. I love how you can see the heavy snow fall in the flash light.
Since I didn't have to be out and about, I was looking forward to more snow when I woke up. It wasn't all that much, but it's sticking to every surface possible. It's the best snowball snow EVER!
At 8AM this morning, we were outside enjoying ourselves.
What can you do when you don't have a lot of yardage when counting your handspun yarn?

Make a toy! They don't usually need a lot of yardage, like this little guy.

pattern: Voodoo you love me? by Susan Claudino
yarn: SCF January Fiber Club Fuego, M-plied, 112yds (had a few yards left over), chunky yarn
needles: 3.75mm (only because it's a toy, that had to be stuffed, otherwise this yarn would need 5mm needles, when used for a hat etc.)

This guy wears an ear ring, which has "Happiness" stamped on it. And he wears a leather necklace with a paw print. Fancy, fancy! ;o)
He`s my Voodoo monster, guarding my yarn!
I made her a pair of socks. I really like girly colors, especially pink, but I don't wear those colors, I don't know why.

The yarn is Wandering Cat Yarns Barn Cat. The colorway is "Rose Garden". It's self striping, and I think Rhonda did a wonderful job in dyeing them. Look how nice they matched up!

I've also had success with my beet pickled eggs. They taste good, and look great.

I was a little scared cutting into them at first. But look - so pretty!

I did the simplest recipe, only vinegar and the hot water of the beets I boiled, including the beets. I was going for color in this one. But, next time I'll try this again, I'll at least add salt, and maybe other spices. Even with salt sprinkled on, the tasted bland. One thing's for sure though, I'll try this again.

I've finished this yarn recently, made with Southern Cross Fibers Fiber Club January 2013 fiber - Fuego. It inspired a spinalong over on Ravelry in the SCF group. It's called Extreme Plying: The SAL, and you can use SCF fiber, Hello Yarn fiber, and Spunky Eclectic fiber to join the fun! There will be prizes as well! Entries must be 4-ply and up.

Here's the fiber: sw BFL, 110gr - Fuego

David of SCF called it "m-ply", and of course I like it. What I did is, I made a 2-ply and chain plied that too boot. I love how the colors blend well together. I'm already working on the second colorway Vista, to do the same with it, hoping it will turn out as great as this one. There's only 112yds of it, all that plying eats up the yardage, but I don't really care that much. Maybe if Vista turns out compatible with Fuego, I will use them both for a hat.

O.K. off to spin some more to get an entry ready for the SAL.
I've put them on Ravelry ages ago. A long time ago I bought five sock blanks, but never got around to dyeing them. Then I sent them to Ginny of FatCatKnits and asked her to do it for me. Those are not colorways she has in her program, just something she did before she carried sock blanks in her shop. Slowly I've been knitting them up, one by one into fun pairs of sock. Only one more to go. But for today here's pair # 1.

The sock blank:

That's how the sock blank looked wound into a cake:

And the socks. I really love how they turned out. My sock blanks were single strand, so I think Ginny did a great job in dyeing the blank to get fairly matching socks.

And I wanted to show you a reason why Denny loves snow. He's a big digger, and hides things all the time. Snow is just so easy to bury things in, but he has no trouble using mud, dirt, leaves, blankets, anything he can nudge around with his nose, to bury toys, bones, or other things he holds dear. The videos are only a few seconds long.

Here he's doing a half assed job in burying a bone, he was distracted by our neighbor shoveling snow of the porch, so he was in a hurry.

Once I wanted to see what he would do, when I buried a bone in front of him. I dug a little hole with my shoe in the snow, and pushed a bone into it, then put some snow on it, and stepped on it, so you could not see the bone anymore. He watched closely, when I was done, he went there, sniffed around, looked at me, and went on his way, tail high. I must have done a good job, or he would have dug it out again, and hid it somewhere else. Hehe.

Here he's hiding a pin. I had already put away my camera, when I saw him hiding the pin. He was halfway done by the time I got it out, and turned on. He was more careful with it, then with the bone. After he was finished he checked if the neighbor saw him doing it. But I think he thought no one saw him, because he didn't go back to get it, to bury it somewhere else, which he does, if he catches me watching him, or anybody else for that matter.
